About
Raoofeh Rostami is an interdisciplinary artist who studied photography at Art University of Tehran. During her study she started her career as a photojournalist. Working at different magazines and newspapers made opportunities for her to be connected with different experimental theater groups which introduced her to a broader art world. She observed and learned how artist mixed different medias together to represent a concept.
By years, she realized photography alone was not enough for her as a medium, so she decided to transform this media for her self. This change in direction was not easy for her but it was necessary for her grows as an artist.
She started working on installations with photo papers as their base. She focused on location, stasis, and minute changes to explore the question of how one can redefine place and the time of presence in a place?
And as an artist who has mainly worked with photography as a medium, she considers this principle that there is some kind of going back to the past and primary principles in this viewpoint; a sort of looking at the origin.
Since 2013, Rostami has participated in several local and international exhibitions.
